Lordy, it's dark in here! Or perhaps, just not as bright as outside on a summer's day. The bar is at the back of the room, with 8 tables of various sizes on the way, though most of the punters preferred the cordoned-off area on the pedestrianised High Street.
Above the bar, a blackboard lists a drinkers dozen, the last few being cider, requiring a bit of concentration to read through it all and come to a decision. I concluded that it was all keg (in absence of any indication to the contrary), though prices were rather more reasonable than I've become accustomed to.
I was up the bar twice, so can recommend the friendly service from the proprietor and the quality ales.
With no end of knick-knacks on the wall and a long list of beers, it's worth looking in.

A jumbo rainbow flag in the window but fear not, this isn't a cringe woke bro micro but a nicely-done craft bar with a friendly old-school butch lesbian behind the jump - I suspect at that point I figured-out why the pub has its particular name, a clever sub-surface double-entendre. Interior is modern tasteful crafty; rough wood plank wall panelling, black laminate floor like a kitchen worktop and a few bits of steam punk style decor. 12 keg options, 10 mainly local craftykeg beers and a couple of ciders. I had Malt Coast Black IPA which was fine, though it's a shame that there's no indicator of what's CAMRA kosher and what isn't. Nice atmosphere, people were having fun and it’s worth prioritising. 7.5

Nice little Micro ale house in a good position on the High Street a short stroll from the Tuesday Market. A one room former shop conversion with a few outside tables on the High Street.
Inside it’s mainly dark wood, but you get enough light from the large front windows for it to be oppressive and there’s plenty of beer decor to give the place character. I especially liked the lamp covers made out of beer kegs for example.
The bar is at the far end with a counter to the front and a 15 tap wall to the back with a large coloured chalkboard on top of them giving you most of the details you need. For my visit there was a Lager, three ciders and a collection of ales of various styles. They are all from key kegs and a mixture of cask and craft ales but no information on which is which. So if you are the type of person to whom this makes a difference you will need to ask.
Friendly place, both from the point of view of the bar staff and other customers and samplers are readily offered and what’s drinking well advise freely given. This was actually a good thing as the thoughts of a couple of the assembled regulars who advised against the Pastore Brewing Sour Plum Cherry Weiss was confirmed with a sample. So I went for the Loch Lomond Silkie Stout and the Nene Valley Big Bang Theory Pale Ale, both of which were very good. This is a good little ale house and in a town of precious few venues offering a decent ale choice from what I could find, it’s a bit of a gods send.
